2-hour boat tour
2.5-hour fast boat tour
Lake Skadar National Park is known for its rich wildlife, and it is the largest bird sanctuary in the Balkans. More than 280 bird species have been recorded in this unique habitat. Many of them are migratory and use the lake as a resting place during their long journeys. Some of the birds regularly seen on our guided boat tour include the Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus), Pygmy Cormorant (Microcarbo pygmaeus), Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea), Whiskered Tern (Chlidonias hybrida), Great Egret (Ardea alba), Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides), and others.
Timing is an important factor in birdwatching. Early mornings offer soft light and a peaceful atmosphere, with many birds active as nature slowly wakes up. Midday is generally less suitable, especially in summer, as birds tend to hide from the heat and boat traffic on the lake increases. You can choose between two types of boats for a birdwatching boat tour. With a fast boat, we can cover up to twice the distance in the same amount of time compared to a classic boat. The fast boat is not loud, and its speed is used only on open parts of the lake to shorten travel time, allowing us more time to explore the quiet, hidden corners.
